Otto is one of the most compelling figures from the new generation of young musicians from Brazil. Hailing from the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco, and of Dutch and Brazilian descent, Otto was one of the original members of the musical movement called Manguebeat (a style that mixed traditional rhythms with rock, hip hop and electronica), considered to be the most important movement since the days of Tropicalia. Having played a pivotal role as a percussionist, his talents as singer, songwriter and producer soon became evident. Brazilian MTV further cemented Otto’s rise with a highly acclaimed Acustico series special. With four critically acclaimed albums under his belt, his latest release fuses traditional Brazilian styles with global music genres like pop, rock, hip hop and soul. Otto seamlessly takes the listener through his sonic stories-poetry set against folksy rhythms of a small village one moment, and back to the big urban jungle with contemporary beats to the next. On these featured tracks, Otto is joined by Grammy winner Julieta Venegas. Felicidade!
