Wax Poetic

Wax Poetic is a New York based band led by the music guru Ilhan Ersahin, also founder of Nublu. The group originated at the popular and now defunct club Save the Robots and consisted of a volatile group of musicians and singers including Norah Jones. Between 2006 and 2007, Wax Poetic released a series of three albums titled “Copenhagen” “Istanbul” and “Brasil.” During this time, the band explored and absorbed the beautiful music from these cities and countries while still remaining true to their own alternative pop, rock and electronica roots.

During the recording of “Brasil,” Wax Poetic has invited some of the finest Brazilian artists to collaborate in this album, including Otto, Bebel Gilberto, Mamelo Soundsystem and Thalma De Freitas to record in the studios of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The outcome was captivating and rhythmic, catchy, light and melodic, like the spirit of Brazil. Wax Poetic Brasil will be performing a free exclusive show featuring Thalma De Freitas at the MoMA music series on July 8th.
